Two Light Fashion Set-up

So, I was doing a fashion shoot the other day and I thought I should make a small tutorial on how to achieve a balance lighting in small places with small equipment specially speed lights that are triggered wirelessly.

- For the key light place a speed light on a light stand slightly above your subject (Between 1-2 feet) move it straight to the side about 3-5 feet away, and point it down at about 45 degrees.

-The power on it will depend on how much you light you need, but I suggest to not move it past 1/4 of the power and to zoom it as far as your speed light can go, since it will not have any type of diffuser.

- For the Fill light place a speed light with a small soft box,  either on a boom stand over your camera, or just place it on your camera hot shoe. After this point it straight forward your subject at about half the power your key light is in. (Key light is in 1/4 your fill would be in 1/8 or 1/16)

- Remember to place your subject a couple of feet away from the wall or whatever it is behind him or her to prevent any unwanted shadow cast on it, but keep in mind the inverse square law, and that the farthest away the darker it’ll get.

- Trigger the flashes with a radio/ wireless trigger to make your job easier.

Have fun shooting, and I hope this somehow helped you guys build a new lighting set-up with what you may already have.
